"Fairfield Ledger", Jan 8, 1879, Pg. 3, Col. 3

A telegram was received in this city Monday announcing the death of Dr. L. HURST, at Parsons, Kansas. For many years the Doctor was a resident and business man of Fairfield, and is well known to nearly everybody. About a year ago he removed with his family to Parsons, and a peculiar fatality appears to have attended his removal. First Mrs. HURST sickened and died, leaving two small children. Her remains were brought here for burial. Since the death of his wife the Doctor has been in ill health, and now comes the sad news of his sudden decease.

The remains of Dr. L. HURST, whose death was mentioned in last week's "Ledger", were brought to this city and interred by the side of those of his wife Thursday. He was buried with Masonic honors, having been a member of the order in this place.
