DIED -- In this city, Sept. 16th, 1863, Abram MORRISON, aged 49 years, 5 months and 17 days. Born in Huntingdon Co., Pa.. He removed to Missouri about the year 1850, and thence to Jefferson County, Iowa, about 1853. In April, 1862, he entered the 17th Reg. of Iowa Inf., and continued in the service until in Nov. last, when he was obliged to return home....
During his long illness he manifested great interest for the condition of his beloved country, and repeatedly expressed a desire only to live and see the rebellion put down, and the integrity of the Union restored. Although he was not permitted to live to see the consummation of his ardent wish, he has left children who, it is hoped, may have many years to enjoy the blessings of a united Republic, for which their father contributed not only his services, but it may be said, his life.
The deceased was twice married. He left a wife and, we believe, eight children -- three of them young and helpless. One, a little girl, survived her father but three days.
