THE PASSING OF HON. MOSES AYRES McCOID, at his home in this city Tuesday morning about 2 o'clock...

Born in Logan County, Ohio, November 5th, 1840. When a lad of 11 years he came to this county with his father, the late Robert McCOID, and his residence here has been continuous since that time... When the war of the Rebellion began he enlisted as a member of Company E, Second Iowa Infantry, May 6th, 1861, and was with that regiment in all its battles -- Ft. Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Bear Creek and Resaca....

On September 7th, 1863, Mr. McCOID was united in marriage with Miss Helen IRLAND of Jacksonville, Ill., who survives him. They were the parents of eight children, seven of whom are now living: Mrs. J.B. MONFORT, Mrs. C. S. CRAIL, and Miss Helen reside in this city; Ernest L. is a well known attorney of Keosaqua; Arthur B. and Robert B. reside in Chicago; Mrs. Jessie WEST in Atlanta, Ga..... Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
