PHILIP MESNER born Richland County, near Mansfield, Ohio, March 14 1838; died February 22 1923, age 84-11-8.
At age 4 came with parents, Michael and Polly Shaffer [Shafer] Mesner to Jefferson County, Iowa...After finishing the public school he attended Axline's Seminary at Fairfield, Iowa.
Married, April 3 1878, Nancy Ann Emry; 12 children who with the wife and mother survive. They are Chas. W., Fall River, Mass.; Frank D. of Bellevue, Iowa; Belle Marsh, Archer, Neb.; Hugh P., Oriella Crosbie; Raymond D.; Bessie Barnes; Gilbert M.; Julia M.; John E.; Ralph W. and Angie, all of Central City; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Wm. of O'Neill, Neb., and a sister, Elizabeth of E. Pleasant Plain, Iowa.
After his marriage he was interested in a flour mill at Pleasant Plain. In 1887 removed to a farm in Dixon Co., Neb., returning after two years to a farm near Pleasant Plain. In 1898 moved to Neb., living near Hastings until 1907...to Central City. U.B. Church-Friends.
