SHE ONCE LIVED IN FAIRFIELD. The Des Moines papers note the death of Mrs. Caroline METZLER in that city the 21st inst.. She was the widow of Capt. Frederick F. METZLER, who died at the same place a few years ago. Mrs. METZLER was eighty-two years of age, and was born at McConnellsburg, Penn.. She was married in 1840 and came to Fairfield a few years later. She resided here while her husband was in the army, a member of Company E, Second Iowa Infantry, and at one time its captain. The family removed to Des Moines early in the '60s. Two daughters survive her, Mrs. O. H. SHOEMAKER and Mrs. J. M. MEEK, both at Des Moines.
