Death of Mrs. CRAINE.

At the family home in Fairfield, Iowa, January 9, 1888, of softening of the brain, occurred the death of Mrs. Nancy Jane CRAINE, wife of Mr. George CRAINE. Her age was 72 years, 8 months and 10 days. Her maiden name was HARDIN. She was born in Adair county, Kentucky; married to the husband from whom she has been taken Jan. 26th, 1841, in Sangamon county, Ill. They came to Fairfield Oct. 11, 1842, and together have witnessed more than 45 years of its changes. They have had 10 children, five of whom are living. Three daughters live in Fairfield, George lives in Minneapolis and Edwin in Missouri Valley Junction. They were all present with their mother in her last illness, to minister to her and communicate with her almost to the hour of her departure. In October, 1855, Mrs. CRAINE was received into communion in the Presbyterian church, upon a profession of her faith in Christ, and in this communion of Christ and His church she ended her earthly pilgrimage. In all the relations of a long and active life she has left a record replete with blessed memories. Having well filled her place as wife, mother, neighbor and christian in her Fairfield home, her departure has touched many hearts with sadness. But there is comfort to those who can look beyond in the light of the revelation which says: "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints." Ps, 116:15.

George CRAINE and family desire to return their thanks to the friends who so kindly assisted during their recent affliction.
