Josiah BALES died Tues. Jan. 4. Was afflicted with rheumatism and for the last 13 years has been unable to walk. Born in Adams Co., Penn. Nov 6 1833 of Quaker ancestry; emigrated to Iowa by way of the Ohio and Mississippi rivers at age 17. His early home was established in Jefferson County, where he has ever since remained. Sept 4 1873 married Miss Elizabeth REEDER at Fairfield. Two sons, John and James.....Burial in Brighton Hillcrest Cemetery.
