"Fairfield Ledger", Thurs., Jan. 11, 1866, Pg. 3, Col. 2

DIED -- Near Fairfield, Dec. 26th, 1865, in the 72nd year of her age, Mrs. Mary McCOMB, of Pneumonia, after an illness of a few days, from the beginning of which she seemed to be impressed with the thought that her work was done and her end had come. Within the space of a few years, her husband, a son and two daughters had all been taken away, leaving a bright testimony of their happy transit to the land of blessedness. She seemed to feel that the time had come that she should join them, and leaving one son and one daughter, and their families, and other grandchildren, to whom she was much attached and much endeared, she could but feel that it was pleasant to pronounce her benedictions upon them and to believe that her prayers in their behalf would be answered, and that soon the family now broken on earth, would find a reunion in the better land... From early life she was a consistent member of the Presbyterian Church. For twenty-one years she, with her family, had resided in Iowa, near Fairfield.....
