DEATH OF J. M. WHITHAM of Holyoke, Colorado.... Former resident of this city and one of the early settlers of the county, Friday, Nov. 5.

Born in Washington, Penn., June 22, 1823, came to this county in the '40s, and for a number of years was in the bakery and grocery business in this city. In 1880 on account of failing health left Fairfield for Holyoke... Visited in this city twice since going to Colorado, once eight years ago and once three years ago. Was twice married, his first wife dying in 1856.

Second wife survives him as do eleven children. They are Mrs. Amanda KARNES of Chicago and William of Holyoke, by his first wife; and Charles W. of this county; Hamlin and John, of Everts, Washington; Luther of St. Joe, Mo.; Frank of Holyoke; Grace HILCEBECK of Holdridge, Neb.; and Emily, Rolla, and Nellie, who are still at home, all children of the second marriage.
