Joseph L. BALL, well-known retired stock buyer and farmer, died about 4 a.m. today at his home, 401 E. Burlington. He had been in failing health for the past several years.
Last rites will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with Dr. Curtis R. Douglass officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Joe BALL, as he was known by his many friends, spent his entire life in Jefferson county, the past 60 years in Fairfield He was a well-known stock buyer and a long-time member of the Elks Lodge.
Joseph L. BALL, 83, was born July 5, 1878, in Jefferson county, the son of George W. and Margaret LAUGHLIN BALL. He was reared and educated in the area west of Fairfield.
In October, 1902, he was married to Georgian WHITMORE. She preceded her husband in death in Jan. 11, 1960.
He is survived by the following: one son, John L. BALL, Fairfield; one daughter, Josephine BALL, Des Moines; one sister, Mrs. Nellie HUNT, Fairfield; one brother, Harry I. BALL, Fairfield; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Harold W., and three brothers.

Jefferson County, ss.Notice Is Hereby Given, that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Co-Executors of the estate of Joe L. BALL, also known as Joseph L. BALL, deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
