Page 2, Column 2John J. WELDAY, well known resident of Fairfield, passed away this morning....
He was born in Lowell, Iowa, July 18, 1845. In early life he came with his parents to Jefferson County which has since been his home with the exception of a few years spent in Des Moines where he was engaged in the shoe business. He was married to Samantha FRY and to them were born six children, two of whom, Milton and Mabel, died in infancy.
Four children, Ralph of Burlington, L.W. of Batavia, J.W. and Jessie of this city, with their mother, survive. A brother, W.W. WELDAY, resides in Des Moines. Mr. WELDAY spent several years on a farm near Libertyville and was also proprietor of general merchandise stores at Libertyville and Batavia....
