Deaths
August SWANSON

August SWANSON, a resident of Libertyville for 50 years, passed away at his home there yesterday morning at 8 o’clock at the age of 76 years. He had been in poor health for a year and ill for over two weeks.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon from the Libertyville Presbyterian church with burial in the Fell cemetery.

Mr. SWANSON came to the United States from Sweden at the age of ninteen (sic. nineteen). He has been foreman on the Rock Island rail road between Libertyville and Perlee for the past fifty years.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine, and the following children: Oscar SWANSON of Ottumwa , Richard of Albia, Gilbert of Marshalltown, Mrs. R. D. HOFFMIRE of Bellflower, Calif., Raymond of Libertyville and Harold of Fruitland. One son preceeded (sic. preceded) him in death.

Obituary
CARL AUGUST SWANSON

Carl August SWANSON was born in Sweden, March 25, 1854 and died in Libertyville, Iowa, Nov. 27, 1930. At the age of 12 he came to Iowa, locating at Perlee, later moving to Libertyville where he has since resided. He spent 50 years of his life in the service of the Rock Island railroad. For many years he was a member of the Lutheran church at New Sweden, Iowa. In 1910 his membership was transferred to the Presbyterian church at Libertyville of which he has been a faithful and loyal member.

In 1888 he was married to Augusta Josephine JOHNSON, who with the following children are left to mourn his death: Oscar of Ottumwa, Iowa, Richard of Albia, Gilbert of Marshalltown, Mrs. Ray D. HOFFMIRE of Bellflower, California, Raymond of Libertyville, Harold of Fruitland; also eight grandchildren and one brother Emil of Sabina, Missouri, besides many friends and other relatives. One son and three sisters have preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2 oclock from the Presbyterian church, conducted by D. Whiting. Interment was made in the Fell cemetery.
