Joseph E. STEELE born near Madison, Ind., Jan. 26, 1838, died Apr. 25 1923, age 85-2-29. Married Sept. 2, 1863, Sarah E. MILES. After their marriage they came at once to Jefferson County and settled near Libertyville where they lived until the death of the wife Feb. 3, 1908.

Six children, three preceded their parents in death. Living are one son, J. W. STEELE of Libertyville, Iowa, and two daughters, Mrs. Cora CARLSON of Osceola and Mrs. George (Ollie) TEETER of near Batavia, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; 7 greatgrandchildren. Presby. Ch.. Fell Cemetery.
