Page 3, Column 8Mrs. Jane SMALLRIDGE died at Libertyville Feb. 28th.
Born in Devonshire, England, Dec. 16, 1808. Maiden name was TURL; married John SMALLRIDGE at the age of 25. They resided at Exeter, England, for several years, where four daughters were born; came to U.S. in Sept., 1851, and settled at Sandusky, Ohio, where another daughter was born.
Three are yet living: Mrs. Liza ROBEY at State Center, Mrs. Lizzie LAUGHLIN at Libertyville, and Mrs. Kate PENNY at Canton, Ill.. The family removed to Peoria, Ill., in 1853, and remained until 1857, and then removed to Keokuk. In 1862 the husband enlisted in the Third Iowa Cavalry, Co. F, the wife also going as a nurse, in which prefession she served for 22 months.
These good people lived in St. Louis from the close of the war to March, 1887, and then made their home with their daughter at Canton, Ill., where Mr. SMALLRIDGE died in September of that year. Mrs. SMALLRIDGE then came to Libertyville and has since made her home with Mrs. LAUGHLIN. Episcopal Church... Fell Cemetery.

Page 6, Column 2LIBERTYVILLE, March 1. Mrs. Jane SMALLRIDGE, mother of Mrs. J. R. LAUGHLIN, died at the residence of her daughter at this place last Sunday, at the advanced age of 83. Her life was a singularly grand one, full of unselfishness and bright cheerfulness....
