Word was received here by Mrs. H. J. ROUTSON this morning telling of the death of her uncle, George RAINES of Goodland, Kansas. Mr. RAINES was born and reared near Libertyville and lived in Fairfield about 25 years ago, having visited in Fairfield about a year ago. Funeral services will be held in Goodland. Mrs. ROUTSON and Mrs. Charles PEARSON, of Libertyville, both nieces, survive him.

Note: This George is the son of George and Mary ERSKINE RAINES, born about 1863. In the 1930 census of Goodland, Sherman Co., KS, he is noted as 67 years old. His wife is Mary, age 62.

A hand-written note in the source material indicates a death notice in "The Fairfield Ledger" of Tuesday, June 2, 1942, page 1, column 8, for Mrs. George RAINES of Goodland, Kansas, who died Monday and is buried there.
