Mrs. Laura SHIPLER MARTIN, 92, long-time resident of Fairfield and Libertyville, died Monday 10:15 p.m. at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. F. L. HELFINSTINE, 801 W. Briggs. Behner Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Ottumwa.

Born April 30, 1868, at Altoona; married Wilson M. SHIPLER Jan. 4, 1888; he preceded her in death Feb. 20, 1904. In 1929 Mrs. MARTIN was married to W. E. MARTIN who died Aug. 19, 1948. Member Libertyville Methodist Ch.

Survived by children: Mrs. Winifred HUGHELL, Libertyville; Mrs. Corbin COVEY, What Cheer; Nelson R. SHIPLER, Centerville; Mrs. F. L. HELFINSTINE, Fairfield; Glen SHIPLER, Ottumwa; Mrs. Rex WORKMAN, Fairfield; and Homer SHIPLER, Ottumwa. A foster son, W. A. CARR, Chula Vista, Calif., also survives. Other survivors are 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Owen and Russell POTTS, both of Eldon. One son, three sisters and three brothers are deceased.

(Note: The son who was deceased was Clair SHIPLER, killed Oct. 5, 1918, Argonne Forest, France.)

Note: Moved to Ottumwa in October, 1922, per a Fairfield "Ledger-Journal" article dated October 12, 1922. First husband Wilson was originally interred in Brethren/Dunkard Cemetery in Jefferson County per his obituary, and at some point was moved from there to Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa, likely to be buried with Laura when she died.
