December 9, 1933 -- Wife Mayor POTTS Died This Morning --

Passed Away Today After Lingering Illness Of Nearly Year

Mrs. Jane MILLER POTTS, wife of Mayor Clyde POTTS, passed away at her home, 4 Farragut place, at 10:30 this morning after a long illness.

Mrs. POTTS was stricken with a paralytic stroke while vacationing in Miami, Fla., last winter. She was taken to a hospital in Miami and after she was well enough to be moved was brought to her home here. She had always been interested in the civic affairs of the town of which her husband was Mayor and when the National Historical Park at Jockey Hollow was dedicated on the Fourth of July last, the parade, which opened the dedication services, was rerouted so that it would pass the POTTS' home and Mrs. POTTS was taken on a wheel chair to a porch to review it.

Mrs. POTTS was born at Elmira, N.Y., a daughter of Curtis W. and Ella MILLER. She was married to Mr. POTTS at Elmira on April 17, 1903. She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Miss Jane Walker POTTS and Miss Betty POTTS.

The POTTS had been living in Morristown for the past twenty-six years and had lived in Neward for four years prior to that.

Mrs. POTTS was active in several women's organizations. She was particularly active in the Parent-Teacher Association of Morristown High School and was instrumental in having that organization sponsor the annual Christmas party for the high school students and the alumnae and it was due to her untiring efforts that these parties have proved so successful.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
