Joseph L. MADDIX died in Libertyville this morning. Seventy-nine years old. Civil War veteran. Survived by widow and one son, Abe... Fell Cemetery.

Joseph L. MADDIX, born Sept. 27, 1846, in Holmes Co., Ohio, came with his parents when four years of age to Iowa, settling near Des Moines. After a few years they came to Libertyville, later moving to Birmingham... At age 17, Dec. 29, 1863, he enlisted at Birmingham in Co. H, 3rd Iowa Cavalry, and was mustered out at Atlanta, Ga., Aug. 9, 1865. Was in the battles at Little Rock, Ark., and Atlanta, Ga..

Oct. 10, 1878, married Mary R. RODIBAUGH; one son, Abe of Libertyville. Resided in the Libertyville community since their marriage, moving from the farm to town in 1891. M.E. Church. Died Jan. 6, 10:15 a.m. at his home in Libertyville, age 79-3-9.

Leaves wife, son Abe, and his wife, one grandson Aaron, all of Libertyville; one granddaughter, Mrs. Joe BRANNAN of Birmingham, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral conducted by Rev. Garrett and Rev. O. J. Fox... Interment in Fell Cemetery.
