Mrs. J. Lewis (Sarah Ann HOFFMAN) McCLEARY died Wed., Fairfield.

Born in Jefferson County Feb. 8, 1873, daughter of Henry and Margaret HARMON HOFFMAN, and spent her early years in the Libertyville community. Great-granddaughter of Capt. George DONNER, leader of the ill-fated DONNER party which traveled from Springfield, Ill., to Calif. in 1846. Forty-five of 81 members perished when the party became snowbound in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California.

Married Oct. 12, 1898; 60th wedding anniversary last month. First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are husband and children: Mrs. Grace JORGENSON, Scranton; Mrs. Averyle McCOY, Bagley; Henry McCLEARY, Packwood; Mrs. Florence WALKER, Des Moines; Norval McCLEARY, Libertyville, and Mrs. Frances JOHNSON, Des Moines; 9 grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren, and one brother Frank HOFFMAN, Fairfield. One sister and three brothers are deceased.
