MRS. C. M'BRIDE DIED FRIDAY

Services Monday for life-long resident of Libertyville community

Mrs. Charles McBRIDE, age 74, lifelong resident of the Libertyville community, passed away at 1:40 p.m. Friday at her home two miles west of Libertyville. She had been in poor health for the past two years and seriously ill for one year.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the home, in charge of Rev. Glenn Carr. Burial will be in Fell Cemetery. The body will be taken from the Campbell Funeral Home in Batavia to the family home on Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. Miriam NEWLAND McBRIDE was born Sept. 27, 1866 in Des Moines township, Jefferson county--just one mile from the farm where she passed away. She was the daughter of Jake and Angeline NEWLAND. For the past 53 years she has lived on the farm where she died.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles McBRIDE, who died in 1931. Also preceding her in death were three sisters and four brothers. Surviving are two daughters and two sons, Mrs. Frank STEVER, Mrs. Bertha HANEY, Isaac McBRIDE and Frank McBRIDE, all of Batavia, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Miss Nancy NEWLAND.

Miriam McBRIDE

Miriam McBRIDE, daughter of Jacob and Angeline NEWLAND was born Sept. 27, 1866 and departed this life at her home Jan. 10, 1941, at the age of 74 years, three months and 13 days.

On March 13, 1885, she was united in marriage to Charles McBRIDE and settled on the farm where she has spent the remainder of her life.

To this union four children were born, Mrs. Maude STEVER, Mrs. Bertha HANEY, Isaac and Frank McBRIDE, all of Batavia, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband who departed this life on April 17, 1931. Also four brothers and three sisters.

Surviving are one sister, Miss Nancy NEWLAND who has lived with the family for a number of years and following grandchildren, Mrs. Pauline PEEBLER of Iowa City, Iowa; Mrs. Alma PEEBLER of Glasgow, Iowa; Mrs. Frances CLINE of Fairfield, Ill.; Chester McBRIDE of Batavia, Iowa and Mrs. Dorothy FERREL of Libertyville, Iowa; also four great-grandchildren.

She was in failing health the past two years and more seriously the last year.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother and grandmother as well as a good neighbor and friend to every one and will be sadly missed in the home and community.
