Page 2, Column 2Daniel W. LEPPO, son of John and Mary LEPPO, was born in Bedford Co., Penn., Feb. 25, 1844, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carrie VAUGHN, at Barnes City, Sept. 8, 1921, at the age of 77-6-14.
When yet a child he came to Iowa with his mother, where he spent his entire life. On Jan. 4, 1864, he enlisted in Co. E, Second Iowa Volunteers, and faithfully served until he was honorably discharged on July 12, 1865.
On Sept. 19, 1867, married Miss Martha McCARTNEY. Eight children, five of whom, with the wife, have preceded him in death. He was well and favorably known here, having spent the greater part of his life in this community. Died of ptomaine poisoning.
Survived by three children: C.W. LEPPO of Libertyville; Mrs. F.F. VAUGHN of Barnes City, Iowa; Mrs. C.E. WARD of Dubuque; 8 grandchildren... Interment in Fell Cemetery.
