"Fairfield Ledger", Nov. 23, 1887, Pg. 3, Col. 4

The death of Miss Mattie JACKSON, a young lady well known throughout this county, occurred at Libertyville Thursday morning. She had been ill for about two weeks, but confined to her bed only about one-half that time. This is the second death that has occurred in that family the present month, the father, A.W. JACKSON, dying on the 7th inst.

Another sister had been quite ill with fever, and it is said that Miss Mattie really sacrificed her own life by her care and anxiety for parent and sister in their illness. By those who knew her Miss JACKSON is said to have been a most estimable woman, one of much intelligence and strength of character.
