DEATH OF MRS. JAQUES. Mrs. Mary JAQUES, a lady well known in this city and county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. RHEA, in Osceola on Friday last. The maiden name of deceased was Mary MUSGROVE, and she was born in Westmoreland County, England, in 1808. She came to America in 1828, and in the same year in Washington County, Virginia, was married to William JAQUES, to whom she had been engaged in England and who had preceded her to this country in his search for a home. They came to Iowa in 1848, and after spending a winter in Fort Madison, located on a farm in Polk township, this county, where they resided until the husband’s death, in 1874. Two years later Mrs. JAQUES was married to James GOW, who died in 1877. Six children survive the mother, four sons and two daughters, all of whom were present at the funeral. Among the children are Thomas J. JAQUES of Polk township, and Anthony W. JAQUES of this city....The funeral occurred Saturday, Rev. M. Bamford conducting the services.

[Ed. note: Buried in Abingdon Cemetery under the GOW surname. Her first husband William is buried in Abingdon Cemetery with her; her second husband James is buried in Moorman Cemetery with his first wife Jannet.]
