Bernard Eugene GLOTFELTY, former well known resident of Fairfield, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA). He had been in failing health the past three weeks and seriously ill the past 10 days.
Last rites will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines.
The casket will be brought to Fairfield where graveside services will be held in Evergreen cemetery at 3:30 p.m. Friday. The Fairfield Elks will have charge of the services at the grave.
It is planned to open the casket at the cemetery from 3:15 to 3:30 p.m.
Bernard Eugene GLOTFELTY was born Nov. 16, 1900, at Libertyville, Iowa, the son of J. Irvin and Carrie BURNAUGH GLOTFELTY. He attended the Fairfield high school and Parsons college, and was married in November, 1922, to Fern (sic - Greta Fern) FLEMING of Fairfield. The wedding took place in Burlington.
They were residents of Fairfield for several years while he was employed at the First National Bank. Twenty-nine years ago they moved to Des Moines. He was a member of the Highland Park Presbyterian church in Des Moines, the State Banking Department of Iowa and was treasurer of the Elks Lodge in Des Moines.
In addition to his wife GLOTFELTY is survived by one son, David who lives at Charleston, S.C.; one daughter, Mrs. May Kay GOODWIN, West Palm Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Ed. McCLEARY, Fairfield.
