HARRIET FORDICE DIED AT COUNTY HOME LAST NIGHT

Harriet FORDICE, an inmate of the Jefferson County Home, was found dead in her chair last evening at 5:30 o'clock. She had apparently just passed away before her lifeless body was found.

She has been at the County Home since July 15th, 1884, and for the past three years has been an invalid, being a great sufferer from cancer. She was about 75 years of age.

She has a brother, George W. FORDICE, living at Albia. The remains will be interred in Evergreen cemetery tomorrow morning.

Note: Buried in the Public Grounds section, in Row 5, Space 9. She was the daughter of John FORDICE and his first wife Mary C. DEEN. According to census records she was born in 1837 or 1838, and was therefore 79 or 80 years old when she died.
