Gilbert L. COLTON was born Sept. 18, 1838, in Ontario County, N.Y., and died Aug. 31, 1923, aged 84-11-13.

Came with his parents from New York when a boy, locating in Birmingham, and lived in and near there until the last eight years when he made his home with his son Rankin at Libertyville; married Miss Mary MADDIX Dec. 10, 1858.

Six children, two died in infancy, John and Emery. Wife died May 25, 1915. Leaves three sons and one daughter, Alva of Livona, Mo.; Mrs. WORK of Birmingham, Ia.; Rankin of Libertyville, and Edward of Fairfield, several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Presybterian Ch. at Selma. Buried at Birmingham, Iowa, Sept. 2, 1923.
