Death of Robert BRYAN.

Robert BRYAN, whose residence in Jefferson county dated back to 1849, died at the home of his son I. N. BRYAN in Blackhawk township Sunday night. He was about eighty-five years of age, and had been infirm and in failing health for some time past. Deceased grew to manhood in Ohio, and in Ross county that state, in 1832, was married to Miss Harriet McCLELLAND (sic - McCLELLAN). The wife died in this city September 5th, last. In 1849 Mr. and Mrs. BRYAN came to this county and located on a farm seven miles northwest of Fairfield, where a family of five children was reared. They remained on that tract of land until the infirmities of years compelled both husband and wife to give up active life, and then removed to this city. Of six children born to them five are now living--I. N. BRYAN, Mrs. J. P. RAMSAY and Mrs, S. K. WEST in this county, J. M. BRYAN at Smith Flat, Cal., and A. M. BRYAN at Gilman, Col. Mr. BRYAN was a man of admirable parts, a good citizen, an affectionate husband and father, of the strictest integrity and honesty. His old friends and neighbors loved him and held him in high esteem. The remains were interred in this city yesterday afternoon.
