COUNTY CORRESPONDENCE
OBITUARY.

Helen E. BISHOP was born December 5th, 1893, and died August 25th 1908, at Goodland, Kan., where she had gone with her mother and sisters on a visit. About two weeks ago an operation was performed for appendicitis, but with the best of physicians and a trained nurse it was impossible to save her life. During revival meetings at the M.E. church last winter Helen was converted and the day before she went on her visit she was immersed. She was an unassuming, modest young lady, loved by all who knew her. The floral offerings were representative of the high esteem in which she was held. She leaves a mother and three sisters to mourn her loss, besides other relatives and a host of friends. Her father, Robert BISHOP died in 1905, and a sister in 1901. The remains arrived here Friday and funeral services conducted at the M.E. church at 2 p.m. by Rev. W.B. Ireland, interment being made at the Fell Cemetery.

Life of Helen BISHOP

Helen Elizabeth BISHOP, daughter of Robert and Izora BISHOP was born at their home three miles east of Libertyville Dec. 15th 1893 and died at Goodland Kan. Aug. 25th 1908 aged 14 years 8 months and 10 days. Mrs. Bishop with her four
daughters had gone in the early summer to Western Kansas for a pleasant visit with friends and relatives. It was while there that Helen was taken with typhoid fever and complications and with all appendicitis, an operation was
performeed which proved successful but the ravages of the fever was more than her remaining strength could endure; she bore her suffering bravely and patiently excepting her great longing to be at home and with her friends.
Helen was converted during the meeting of the past winter and united with the Methodist church at Libertyville. She had a great fondness for her Sunday school class and general desire for the church; and seemed so gratified in
receiving the ordinance of baptism by immersion but the day before leaving.

She was modest, unassuming and tender in her affections a friend of all; seemingly unconscious of any fault in others she was dutiful and obedient her mothers chief dependence companion in the affairs of the home. Her father having died March 4th, 1905. A sister also died Oct. 16th 1901.

Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church of Libertyville by the pastor W.B. Ireland; and the body was interred in the Libertyville cemetery by that of her sister and her father. The very beautiful and profuse floral offering seemed fittingly typical of her character as well as an expression of the high esteme in which she was held.

**Parents were Robert BISHOP and Izora GUMMERE. All are buried in Fell Cemetery, south of Libertyville, Ia.**
