Gerald A. KURTZ, 65, Packwood area farmer, died at 8:35 a.m. today at Jefferson County hospital. He had been in failing health for seven months and seriously ill for two and a half months.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic church at East Pleasant Plain in charge of the Rev. Fr. Henry B. Geers. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.
KURTZ was born Nov. 24, 1899 at Germanville, son of John S. and Bertha KAUFFMAN KURTZ. He was reared and educated in the Germanville community. He was married to Emma C. LEDGER Jan. 27, 1925.
Surviving are his wife and three children: Mrs. Stanley WARD, Ottumwa; Herman KURTZ of Fairfield Route 4; and Lawrence KURTZ, Packwood.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; one brother, Myron, Brighton; and the following half-brothers and half-sisters: John and Raymond, Brighton; Donald, Davenport; Mrs. Gertrude WIENIKE, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Harry OTT, Mrs. Herbert OTT and Mrs. Leonard SHUPPY, all of Davenport.
KURTZ was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. One sister and one step-brother preceded him in death.
