James Virgil WEBB, 78, lifetime resident of Batavia community, died yesterday in Ottumwa. Burial in Batavia Cemetery.

Son of Isom and Jane SCHRUM WEBB, born Mar. 16, 1871, in Wapello County near Batavia. All his life was spent on a farm in that vicinity. Jan. 24, 1897, married Daisy STERNER. Six children. One son, Wm. Wallace, preceded his father in 1939. Member Masonic Lodge and Christian Church at Abingdon.

Survivors include wife, two sons, Russell of Batavia, and Lester, Detroit, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Dora DAILEY, Fairfield; Mrs. Iva E. HIDY, Potterville, Mich., and Mrs. Inez May SMITH, Bath, Mich.; one brother Geo. WEBB of Ottumwa, 15 grandchildren and 13 grgrchn.
