He [John L.] served in Co. G, 3 IVC, was born Feb 1 1838 in Yellowbud, Ross County, Ohio, son of George Washington & Mary L. Brown, who came to Keosauqua; Mary Brown died there July 19 1893. The bride, Martha Belle Brown, was dau. of Asahel H. Brown.
