BATAVIA. Mr. and Mrs. E. L. DEAN will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary at their home in Batavia Sunday March 15. Residents of Jefferson County all their lives and have lived in Batavia since they were married in 1916.

Mrs. DEAN was formerly Mrs. Ida VORHIES of Fairfield. Mr. VORHIES died in 1909. She has two sons and two daughters: D. J. VORHIES, I. W. VORHIES, and Mrs. Grace CASSEL all of Ottumwa; Aletha J. PARKER of Wichita, Kan., and four grandchildren.

DEAN, when one year old, came with his parents to a farm close to Batavia and lived there until 23 years ago when he moved to Batavia. His father, Elijah DEAN, was a pioneer physician and came to Iowa in 1844. (Note: his mother was Harriet CHILCOTT; his parents are bur. Chilcott Cemetery.)
