Harrison COLLINS.... born Aug. 29, 1839, in Gallia Co., Ohio, son of J.E. & Emaline (McGEE) COLLINS; the former of English descent and a native of Ky., the latter of Irish parentage and native of Ohio. When 17 he came west accompanying his parents to Locust Grove Township where they settled just north of Batavia. They were among the pioneer residents of this county.... Farm of 160 acres.
In 1862 he traveled overland to California... Jan. 29, 1889, married Miss Anna DUNN, daughter of Henry and Harriet FLEENER DUNN. Mr. DUNN was born near Chillicothe, Ohio, of Scotch-Irish lineage; came to Jefferson County when a young man and here married Mrs. Harriet (FLEENER) FANCHER, born Illinois of English parentage. Mrs. DUNN died when her daughter Anna was 3 years old. Mr. DUNN removed to Kansas in 1873; died 1886 near Stockton.
In the DUNN family there were only two children: Anna and a sister Effie who died at age 6 months. Harrison COLLINS died July 18, 1910. Left widow, only child, Bertha May, and one sister and a brother: John H. COLLINS, formerly farmer and hop dealer, now retired in Independence in Lammet (?) Valley, Oregon; Mrs. H. LATTA, wife of Hugh LATTA, farmer near Batavia in Wapello County, Iowa. A sister Margaret, was the wife of Ira BENNETT, deceased, who were residents of Jefferson County near Libertyville but she is also deceased (see Fell Cemetery)...... M.E. Church, Batavia.
