A PLACE OF HISTORIC INTEREST (Lambirth Cemetery in Henry County) ..... The first interment was made here in Aug. 1840. The body was that of Mrs. Jabez Van Doren, mother of Richard who was for many years a resident of Fairfield. Jabez was a stone mason by trade and he carved a rough monument out of native sandstone with his own hands to mark the resting place of his wife. It is still standing altho age has dimmed the inscription ..... (more pioneers .....)

From Mrs. Clarence Van Doren, R. 1, Box 294, Roscoe, Ill. 61073. 29 May 1969.
“John Van Doren of New Jersey, born about 1773, married an OSBORN and went to Pa., on to Indiana. Their son Jabez Van Doren was born in Pa. 1798; married Mary (Polly) Lee, lived Jennings Co., Ind. 1818 or 1820; went to Henry Co., Iowa ca 1839. Jabez married, 2nd, Margaret Hockett Smith. Supposed to have gone to Kansas.”
