“Jefferson County Records”, by Orville & Mary Prill
Vol. 6, page 257.

Michael Damm died Mar. 12, 1905; Dorathea, wife of Michael Damm, died May 22 1890. Both bur. Union Cemetery, Lockridge township. Dorathea’s first husband, John Hown or Hawn, who died Aug 10 1856, is also buried there. Hawn founded Jockey Hollow in 1856, ten miles east of Fairfield. At that time the village consisted of nothing more than Mr. Hawn’s store, his house, and barn, all centered about a small winding stream.....At Jockey Hollow 12 to 16 horses were kept on hand for use on the coaches.....After the coming of the railroad in 1858, Mr. Hawn (?) soon vacated his buildings and a few months later flames consumed the remains of this historic village. (Ledger Oct 2 1939)
