(He was born near Abingdon, Washington County, Virginia, son of Moses Davis and Mary Smith, both born in Va.; she was born in Knox County, Ohio, dau. of David Mowery and Sarah Dial who are bur. Abingdon Cemetery, Jeff. Co. Iowa)
