Adam WINSELL was Captain of Adam Winsell's Company of Tennessee Militia, War of 1812. Enlisted Jan. 5, 1814, at Elizabethtown, Carter County, Tennessee, served to May 18, 1814; discharged on account of sickness. He had papers, which were sent to Washington City when he obtained a Land warrant. During a part of his time of service he was at Lookout Mountain. The Battle of Horseshoe was fought while he was in the service, but he was not at said battle.
Adam WINSELL was born (in Virginia?) 9 Sept. 1781; married Sarah CURTNER 22 March 1809, in Carter County, Tennessee, by Alexander Doran, J.P. Sarah CURTNER was born 17 Feb. 1792, in North Carolina. Their children -- from Adam Winsell's Bible:
