COFFEE HONORS MRS. WOODS, 93 ...Mrs. Woods has been a resident of Fairfield since 1881 when she came here with her parents. She joined the Presbyterian church on Jan. 11, 1890, is still a member of the Westminster Bible class, and attends Sunday School and church every Sunday possible. She was one of Fairfield’s earliest career women. She was employed for more than ten years in the J. C. Thorne dry goods store, and later worked in the city clerk’s office in the water department. She was deputy treasurer to her husband who served as county treasurer for many years. Mr. (George) Woods died in 1954.

Mrs. Woods keeps busy and active and lives alone at 207 E. Washington. She loves to sew, crochet, knit and garden. She attends the Fancywork circle and DAR meetings, and goes to her Beta church circle. She walks to town to do her errands, bakes for shut-ins, and this fall entertained at her home at a morning coffee for active members of her Westminster class.

Mrs. Charles Cummings, Route 2, who keeps an eye on her aunt, says, “she is so well she’ll live to be 100, at least.” One of her projects this fall was making a complete wardrobe for the doll of a great-grandniece who resides in California. After January’s only heavy snow, Mrs. Woods was out shoveling her walks clean.
