SOME PUZZLING RELATIONSHIPS. A few years ago Michael Shondel and Worth Heckathorn were widower residents of Round Prairie township. Heckathorn found a wife in a daughter of Shondel, and Shondel returned the compliment by marrying a daughter of Heckathorn. Children have been born of both these marriages. The relationships of these men, their wives, and children are somewhat mixed, but some other complications have been put into the affair recently which make even the fathers hesitate in asserting what relation they are to their own children. In this city last week James W. Shondel, a son of Michael Shondel by his first marriage, and Olive P. Heckathorn, a daughter of Worth Heckathorn by his first marriage, were made husband wife. The children of Shondel, sr., are now brother in law and sister in law of Heckathorn, sr., and also his grandchildren. One of the daughters of Heckathorn, sr., is his mother in law and another is his sister in law. Shondel’s son is Heckathorn’s son in law and also his brother in law, and Heckathorn’s father in law is also his son in law. One of Heckathorn’s daughters is a half sister of her grandmother, while his brother and sister in law are his grandchildren. What a genealogy that will be to trace a few years hence! These people have certainly complied with the biblical injunction to marry until you know not your own kindred.

This data has been transcribed for genealogical purposes; I am not related to the subjects.
