ESTATE OF SAMUEL SHUFFLETON, Dec’d (Circuit Ct. Box 51) Bill of JOHN GOSSAGE, for making coffin - $10.00. WM. L. ORR, bill for medicine and medical services during last illness from Sept. 2, 1846 to Sept. 25th…..DR. J. T. MOBERLY, consultation fee….ISAAC V. LEFFLER deposes and says that the within named articles were furnished for the burial of SAMUEL SHUFFLETON, deceased. 6 Yds. White Cambric @ 75cents; Hose, 13 cents; etc.
Among other assets inventoried are books which apparently constituted a good “law” library; one on Military Law, 2 Vols. Theological Reports, etc.
MRS. MARY RUTH WHITMARSH of Chico, Calif., writes under the date of March 27, 1964: “SAMUEL SHUFFLETON’S book of Military Maneuvers was preserved, and it has passed on to me. On the flyleaf is his name written in a firm flowing hand, I suppose his own handwriting.”
