Five prisoners escaped from the Jefferson County jail at Fairfield a few evenings ago. One pf the prisoners asked for water, when Mr. John Minor, the jailer went into the prison with a bucket of water. When he stepped inside he was seized and thrown to the floor, bound, and held down, while four of the prisoners made their escape.
