REUNIONS

CRILE

Ninety-three descendants of John Phillip and Gottliebie CRILE met for the 100th reunion July 30 at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Activity Building.

Robert CRANE, accompanied by Deb JOHNSON, sang "God Bless America." Loretta DIERS offered a table prayer. Pulled pork sandwiches and loose-meat hamburgers were served with side dishes provided by attendees.

Loretta DIERS gave the welcome and called the meeting to order. Kathleen ANDERSON served as recording secretary. Minutes were read from the first reunion held Sept. 19, 1917, at Germanville, with 87 attendees.

A financial report was given; bills were presented. Donations to cover expenses were collected in a Julius CRILE basket. After expenses are paid, remaining funds will be given to the Fairfield Public Library genealogy department, and the checking account will be closed.

The 2017 committee was Kathleen ANDERSON, Connie BAUER, Alisha HIRD, LaVon HOSTETLER and Loretta DIERS.

Alisha HIRD put the CRILE genealogy on a CD and made displays of the six siblings: Beatta CRILE TRABERT, Amelia CRILE SCHWEITZER, John Jacob CRILE, Charles CRILE, Julius CRILE and William Henry CRILE. If anyone has a wedding photo of Beatta CRILE TRABERT, send a copy to Loretta DIERS, 3055 Salina Road, Fairfield 52556.

Wilma LEWIS WHITHAM prepared a poster of past reunion photos. Connie BAUER had trivia questions about the CRILE origin and history. She read "The Crile Family," a poem she wrote commemorating the 100th reunion.

Pat JACOBSON was recognized for traveling the farthest from Kodiak, Alaska. Leola TRABERT was recognized as the oldest attendee, and Charlotte JOHNSON was recognized as youngest.

Robert CRANE sang "Blest Be the Tie That Binds" and "Battle Hymn of the Republic." Loretta DIERS read a poem written by her sister Lois BROKKEN for the 80th reunion, "Our Heritage."

Pat JACOBSON had CDs of the Rhythm Majors performing at the London Concert Hall in 1942. Rhythm Majors was the dance band section of the National Guard 34th Army Band. Several CRILE relatives have served in the band, including JACOBSON's father, Max JACOBSON, in 1942.

A poem based on Psalm 133, first sung at the reunion in 1918, was sung again. The reunion closed with the traditional "God Be With You Till We Meet Again."

Attendees were: Pat JACOBSON of Kodiak Alaska; Lee and Sandy of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; JoAnn LEWIS of Ashland, Oregon; Tom and Barbara GRABER of Roanoke, Texas; Lois HAASE, Merle and Gladys BOOS of West Bend, Wisconsin; Mark KELLER and Sharon KELLER of Quincy, Illinois; Kevin DIERS of Dixon, Illinois; Kirk and Desiree DUNLAP of Rogers, Arkansas;
