Page 2BAIRDs celebrating 65th wedding anniversary
John and Genevieve BAIRD, now of North Liberty, are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary Sunday.
The couple was married Nov. 23, 1949, the day before Thanksgiving, at the Eldon Baptist Church.
The BAIRDs spent their lives on their farm near the Batavia and Packwood areas.
Mr. BAIRD retired in 1978 after 30 years from John Deere Ottumwa Works and continued farming in Jefferson County.
Mrs. BAIRD remains a devoted homemaker. She earned a license practical nurse degree and practiced nursing for a short time, but her heart was in helping her husband in the farming and livestock operation.
The BAIRDs are the parents of four children: Louann DAVIS of Chillicothe, Missouri, the late Johnny BAIRD, Lois BAIRD of Iowa City and David BAIRD of Swisher.
