REUNIONS

FHS CLASS OF 1954

The Fairfield High School Class of 1954 held its 60th-year reunion during the Fairfield Kiwanis Kids' Day weekend Sept. 19-21.

Committee members who planned the event were Jane ADKISSON ROWE, Keith BAGBY, Letha BERG GOEHRING, Bernice BUCKINGHAM OGDEN, Dewayne HOOTMAN, Marilyn McINTIRE KANE and J. Roy MYERS.

On Sept. 19, Wilma and Dewayne HOOTMAN hosted the class to a supper of "fall out burgers."

Sept. 20, a group of classmates and Gilligan, the golden-doodle class mascot, rode in the Kids' Day parade on a float pulled by Letha GOEHRING's father's 1954 Case tractor, which had been restored by her sons.

During the afternoon, the class visited the Maasdam Barns and the Carnegie Historical Museum.

In the evening, after pictures were taken, a dinner was held at the Walton Club. The dessert was a class tradition: "chocolate food," which was originally served by Gaumer's Drugstore, a favorite gathering place of many on the square. The chocolate sauce was the recipe of Helen STEWART, who was the mother of classmate Nancy STEWART FRACK.

Jim FRENCH welcomed the class members, Keith BAGBY gave the invocation. The classmates brought everyone up-to-date with their lives. Jane ADKISSON ROWE told the class about the Education Foundation of Fairfield Public Schools Inc. The class chose to remember the 47 deceased members with a $500 donation to the education foundation.

A brunch was held Sept. 21 at the Fairfield Hy-Vee Food and Drug Store.
