Jefferson County Court Records - Guardians of Minor Heirs. 14 March 1856.

"Your petitioner, Sarah Coop, widow of John Coop, deceased. . . . .Guardian of John Coop, David Coop, Christina Coop, Reuben Coop, James Coop & Philip Coop. . . . .Her husband died intestate on the 12th day of October 1848; that besides the above named children who are now minors and were at his death, four others who are now adults, to-wit: William M. Coop, Betsey Ann Coop, Hannah Mitchel formerly Hannah Coop, and Ransom Coop. . . . .At the time of the death of her said husband he was the owner of the following described real estate situate in the County of Jefferson and State of Iowa. . . . .The SE 1/4 of the SE 1/4 of Sec. 19 in Twp 73 North of Range 9W, also the NE 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Sec. 30 in the same township and range, also the SW 1/4 of the SW of the NE 1/4 of Sec. 21. . . . .that after the decease of the said John Coop the debts of his estate were all paid off and the real estate above described is unencumbered, 37 acres under fence and 27 under cultivation. . . . .
David Coop was in Mercer Co., Mo., 7 Apr. 1856.
Ten children in all, the oldest of which is now 26 years of age and youngest is 9 years of age."
