Page 2Dance planned for PECK's 85th birthday celebration
William Edward PECK of East Pleasant Plain will be 85 years old Aug. 29.
PECK was born on the farm, 5 miles south of Brighton, the youngest of 11 children. He graduated from Brighton High School in 1946, Parsons college in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and the University of Iowa in 1960 with a Master of Arts degree for elementary principal/teacher.
He was employed by the Fairfield Community School District for 17 years as a principal/teacher, followed by 14 years with the U.S. Postal Service out of Brighton and Ottumwa. He retired in 1990, but remains as president of the Polishville Community Center.
PECK will be hosting a free dance to celebrate his birthday Sunday at the Polishville Community Center. Food will be available for purchase at 4:30 p.m., and dancing, with the Jerry Beauchamp Band of Eldora, will be from 6-9 p.m.
The public is invited to attend.
