FHS CLASS OF 1947
The Fairfield High School Class of 1947 had its 65th class reunion Oct. 6, with 23 members and nine guests attending.
A banquet was held the evening of Oct. 6, with a social hour follwed by a dinner.
Dale SIPE was master of ceremonies and gave some comments about the past, along with some humorous stories. Bob SUTHERLIN talked about Alaska, where he lives.
Each classmate's senior quote from the Quill yearbook was read, and as they were identified, they talked about their retirement.
The banquet closed with the class singing the FHS school song.
The committee members were: Paul BATES, Alice FERRELL, Dale SIPE, Joyce STANLEY and Ross WALKER.
Other members attending were: France and Sally ARNDT, Mary NEWLON FLEIG, Bob and Betty KELLER, Floyd SHAFER, Joyce BLAIR STANLEY, Ross and Lorraine WALKER and Alice KANE FERRELL, all of Fairfield; Marajorie SAMUELSON BREUER and guest Keith Korell, Enoch and Eunice RUGGLES, Phyllis PERRY SWINK, all of Mount Pleasant; Ella Jean GORMAN SHUMAKER and Dale and Marilyn SIPE, all of Ottumwa; Gwen HYDE SMITH, Burlington; James and Lynn GARDNER of Iowa City; Jannete SIMMONS HOPPERNRATH of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; Alice BATES MORRISON, Grand Island, Fla.; Sammy SAMUELSON and guest Mary Haverstock, Sun City Center, Fla.; Bob and Darlene SUTHERLIN, Anchorage, Alaska; and Kathryn McWHITTER UNKRICH, no town listed.
Visiting guests included Ann Noel of Mount Pleasant and Dotheria Harrison of Fairfield.
