Reunion

FHS CLASS OF 1957

The Fairfield High School Class of 1957 met for their 55th year reunion Sept. 21-22.

Festivities got under way the evening of Sept. 21 with classmates, spouses and guests attending an informal gathering at Walton Club.

The morning of Sept. 22, a large group gathered at the McElhinny House for a coffee with Mary MARTIN LANE greeting the guests. Special guests were Gwen Wells and Anna Brenneman. Linda KING CAMERON, Justine STEWART JAHP and Beverly MILLER FULTON were hostesses.

For those interested in history, the afternoon was open to tour Carnegie Historical Museum and Maasdam Barns or take in the many changes and new additions since their last visit to Fairfield.

A dinner was held in the evening for classmates, spouses and guests at Walton Club. Those attending were greeted by Gary and Loretta DUNNUCK JOHNSTON. Class colors of dark green and mint green tulle decorated the banquet room tables with accents of fall leaves.

After a class picture was taken, Bob McNEW gave the welcoming address followed by Gene COPELAND paying tribute to the 33 deceased class members by lighting a memorial candle and reading the names of each one.

Deceased members include: Camille MILLER, Bill HOOTMAN, Roger SPEAS, Gary LUNDBERG, Pat MANLEY LOGAN, Jim HOOVER, Karen MICKELS BENEKE, Danny LONG, Tony ANGSTEAD, David COOK, Tom WHITAKER, Charles THOMPSON, Phil HINSON, Larry MORROW, Karen RAMEY UBBEN, Janice SMITH PALM, Pat LEATHERS FRIEBERG, Dick ROBINSON, Ron WILSON, Roxie FULTON, Joyce MOSINSKI GITHENS, John KRANE, Thelma LEYDEN CARTER, Ron GLOTFELTY, Joyce BALDOSIER CARROLL, Helen HOSKINS PARCEL, Tom CAUGHLAN, Ed LUNDQUIST, Paul FERREL, Dick MOSINSKI, Bettye EMMACK KANE, Jeannette MOUGIN LIVERMORE and Raymond SMITH.

The invocation was given by Mary SCHILLERSTROM JARVIS.

Kathryn KELLER AUGSPURGER, on behalf of the Class of 1957, presented Kay SCARBOROUGH UNKRICH and Karen VAN NESS FULTON, co-chairwomen of the reunion committee, each with potted mums in appreciation for their dedication in organizing the reunion. Each lady of the committee received a long stem rose.

After dinner, the remainder of the evening was spent visiting and renewing old friendships. A rumor was circulating a celebration for the 60th class reunion will be held in 2017.
