Articles of Incorporation of the McDowell Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, located in Penn Township, Jefferson County, State of Iowa, filed June 18, 1867 — Jefferson County Deed Book 6, page 462. “The object of this incorporation is the purchase of the necessary ground and the erection of a church building for the worship of Almighty God after the forms and customs and in conformity to the discipline of the Methodist Episcopal Church in the United States.” “The names of the present trustees of said church are John S. Noble, Nathan Quakenbush, Robert C. Hicks, Richard H. Dixson, J. S. Trail, David K. Minter and William Livingston.”
