VANDER HAMM turning 90

Lowell VANDER HAMM of Fairfield will celebrate his 90 th birthday Sunday.

Mr. VANDER HAMM was born May 12, 1922, in Ireton in Sioux County.

He served in the 8th Air Force in England during World War II as navigator on a B-17 Flying Fortress bomber. He then graduated in civil engineering from Iowa State College, now Iowa State University. He was employed with the Iowa Department of Transportation as a registered engineer until his retirement in 1987.

Mr. VANDER HAMM and his wife of 62 years have three children: Susan STOBL of Hagerstown, Md., Sherry OGREN of Lone Tree and Scott VANDER HAMM of New York City.
